FIRED - Town Council In Columbia Votes To Fire Police Chief

COLUMBIA:   6:55 PM.  Columbia Town Council held the personnel hearing that was requested by Columbia Police Chief Shad Floyd. The hearing started at 5:30 PM.


It was not long before the council went into an executive session. When the 


Council Members returned from Executive Session they voted to terminate the employment of Shad Floyd as Police Chief.


Floyd had submitted a resignation as Police Chief. He was on leave until the resignation date was to be effective. Then days before it was to be effective Floyd withdrew his resignation and wanted to stay.


The council voted to terminate but Floyd could appeal. The Alabama League Of Municipalities required he be placed on leave with pay until a hearing.


Tonight was the night. And the vote was to terminate.
