FOLEY, AL (WALA) - A Foley woman was found dead in her home after an early morning fire. Foley Fire Chief Joseph Darby said the woman's body was discovered by a neighbor who went to check on her. It happened at a duplex on Dogwood Circle. Investigators have not released the name of the victim.
Darby said when firefighters arrived on scene around 11 a.m. Monday, the fire had been out for a few hours. There was no visible damage to the exterior of the building and all damage was contained inside the single unit of the duplex.
Investigators believe the fire "self-extinguished" after burning through all of the oxygen in the unit. The Baldwin County coroner will determine the cause of death of the victim. Darby said she lived alone but had family in the area.
