Foot Pursuit Lands One in Jail

On 8/25/2018 at approximately 10:16 pm, the Marianna Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Eva Mae St. and South St. The caller stated they heard several gunshots and then observed a subject running through their yard.
Upon officer’s arrival in the area, two black males were observed walking west on South St. just west of the incident location. Officers attempted to make contact with the subjects, who then immediately fled at the sight of law enforcement.
After a brief foot pursuit, one subject was apprehended in the nearby wood line. The subject was asked to identify himself repeatedly by officers. The subject declined to do so. The subject was later identified as Donald Reed Sparks Jr.
It was then discovered that Sparks had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. Sparks was transported to Jackson County Jail to await first appearance.
There is no further information available in reference to the shooting investigation. At this time, it remains an on-going investigation.
