Randolph County grand jury indicted former Randolph County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy William Lane on 40 charges.
The charges included fraudulent use of a sheriff’s department rodeo association credit card, using his office for personal gain and first-degree theft.
The indictment, filed in state court records Sunday, charges Lane with 11 counts of using his office for personal gain, one count of first-degree theft and 28 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card for “Lane’s alleged illegal actions related to Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Rodeo Association bank account,” Randolph County District Attorney Jeremy Duerr said in a statement.
