An investigation is underway after a gunman robbed the associate pastor of a large Jefferson County church.
The holdup happened about 8:30 a.m. Monday in the parking of Gardendale First Baptist Church, said Gardendale police Chief Mike Walker. The victim was getting out of his white Chevrolet Tahoe when a black male approached him demanding his keys and the SUV. There were no injuries.
The suspect fled the scene in the victim's vehicle, heading northbound on Main Street. He was described as 6-feet, 3-inches tall, 175 pounds wearing a dark toboggan, gray sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes. He is believed to be about 30 years old.
The license plate on the stolen 2008 Tahoe is 1AR4581.
