Seasonal flu season can begin as early as October. Health officials at SAMC are making plans for a potentially heavy flu season. Flu activity historically peaks in the United States between December and March.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone age 6 months and older should get a flu vaccination by the end of October, when possible.
Flu symptoms include fever of more than 101 degrees which lasts 3-4 days, chest discomfort, aches and pains (often severe), headaches, tiredness, weakness lasting as long as 2-3 weeks, extreme exhaustion, coughs and sniffles.
