GORDON POLICE OFFICER BEING PROACTIVE LEADS TO ARRESTS ABD BURGLARIES BEING SOLVED

GORDON:       Since Jim Mock took over as Police Chief of Gordon and Robert Jones has graduated from Police Academy, these two officers are serving the Town of Gordon and Eastside of Houston County well.

Houston County Sheriff 911 Center dispatches for all municipal law enforcement agencies in Houston County with the exception of Dothan Police Department. They dispatch for all 17 Volunteer Fire Departments in Houston County ( only one they don’t is Dothan Fire ), the 5 Emergency Medical Services plus Pilcher Ambulance when they run in the county, Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Agency and interacts with Alabama State Troopers and Game and Fish.

On Thursday evening Gordon Police Officer Robert Jones made a traffic stop of a SUV with no tag pulling an enclosed trailer with no tag and no tailights. Gordon Officer Jones ran all of the information every way possible. The two in the truck with the trailer, the SUV, the VIN on the trailer. All checked out. But it just did not look right.

The point to the Sheriff Department dispatching for all of these agencies ( Henry County - Headland - Abbeville -pay attention ) is all of the information was in the Computer Aided Dispatch. Everything from when Officer Jones called out on the traffic stop, all of the driver and passenger information, the driver license numbers, the VIN of the SUV, the VIN of the Utility Trailer.

After Officer Jones finally had to release the two male suspects and vehicle, he still had a uneasy feeling. Officer Jones notified Chief Mock of what happened.

On Friday morning Chief Mock was notified by residents on Jowers Road in Gordon of the enclosed trailer being stolen. The trailer owner was in the construction business and inside the trailer were a lot of construction tools. The owner of the trailer reported no tag but he had paperwork that contained the VIN.

Chief Mock called Houston County Sheriff 911. ( This is where Headland ( Ray Marler ) - Henry County ( David Money & he is working on it ) - Abbeville ( Billy Helms ) needs to pay attention.

All of the information on the enclosed trailer, the SUV VIN, the two males were all contained in the one CAD ( Computer Aided Dispatch ) system.

Chief Mock contacted Gordon Officer Robert Jones to get in service ( on duty ) and contacted Houston County Sheriff Investigator Schrieber and brought him up to date. Once the suspect(s) names were mentioned Investigator Schrieber wanted to talk with these two individuals also.

Sources were worked by Chief Mock and information compiled about this SUV and the two suspects.

Information gave the trio law enforcement officers a Dale County address. Dale County Sheriff Department responded and nothing was found.

Further investigation led the trio to a Malvern address. Slocomb Police Chief, at the request of Gordon Police Chief Jim Mock went to Windwood Lane. The Slocomb Police Chief reported back the trailer was there and the VIN matched.

Chief Mock, Officer Jones and Investigator Schrieber responded as did Deputies from Geneva County Sheriff Department. A search warrant was obtained. The trailer owner responded. Once the search warrant was in hand the law enforcement officers opened the trailer and found the stolen equipment inside and other items.

As a result of proactive law enforement that was initiated by Gordon Police Officer Robert Jones, a single 911 Center where data is stored from what Officer Jones ran the night before, all pieces of the puzzle were put together. 

Now, where were the suspects? No one was home and the SUV was not there.

Further investigation led the officers to a place in Dothan where the SUV and two suspects were. Gordon Police Officer Robert Jones responded and took white male Justin Parker Wilson and black male 32 year old Clyde Tyrone Covington Into custody and they were placed in the Houston County Jail.

As a result of the proactive law enforcement and one combined date system, ( CAD - Ray Marler in Headland - Billy Helms in Abbeville - you understand this? So far you are thre two dummies placing lives in Henry County on the line becuase of being stupid ) this theft in Gordon was solved.

BUT WAIT! Not only the theft in Gordon, but two burglaries in Houston County, burglaries in Dale County and burglaries in Geneva County.

NOTE: Henry County has 45 law enforcement officers and about 21 dispatchers with Headland Police on one radio system, Abbeville Police on one radio system, Henry County Sheriff Department on one radio system, Alabama State Troopers on one radio system, Headland Fire on one radio system and all other fire/rescue in Henry County on another radio system. Right now the two hold outs are Headland Mayor Ray Marler and Abbeville Mayor Billy Helms For one unified communications system in Henry County. Sorry, when something goes well sometimes you just have to point out others STUPIDITY.  Not opinion, just facts!

Good job to Gordon Police Officer Robert Jones for being proactive. To the Houston County Sheriff 911 staff for keeping “accurate” records. And then the picees of the puzzle being put together.
