HOUSTON COUNTY: This morning around 5 AM Gordon Police Chief Jim Mock and Gordon Police Officer Robert Jones saved lives.
Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a vehicle that was east bound in the west bound lanes of traffic on Highway 84. Chief Mick and Officer Jones were still on duty.
The officers begin to travel on Highway 84 searching for the vehicle. In their minds both Chief Mock and Officer Jones remembered years ago when a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road in Wicksburg claimed the lives of Shirah Stacey’s family.
So Chief Mock and Officer Jones aggressively went the searching for the vehicle.
After nea rimpact with the vehicle the officers activated their emergency equipment and finally got the vehicle stopped. There had been several near misses of major impact before they intercepted the vehicle.
Chief Mock and Officer Jones ended up arresting 43 year old Michael Raymond Martin. He was booked into the Houston County Jail on numerous charges and bonds totaling $ 23,000.00.
Martin is from the State of Florida. He is booked into the Houston COunty Jail on the charges of (1) Posession of a concealed weapon (2) Giving False Identification to a Law Enforcement Officer (3) Reckless Endangerment (4) Drug Paraphernalia in the first degree (5) Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance- Herion (6) Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance (7) Possession of Marijuana in the second degree.
Martin will be seen on Monday morning for First Appearance before the Honorable Benjamin Lewis.
