While conducting routine sex offender compliance checks, an Investigator with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office discovered that registered sex offender Jonathan Adam Keith Shipes provided false information at his most recent registration with the Sheriff’s Office.
Shipes was arrested in 2016 for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Obligations. He was released from prison in early July of this year and registered, as required, with the Sheriff’s Office. However, during the course of the investigation it was revealed that he has never lived at the address he listed as his home.
Shipes also listed a name and address of an individual that he claimed to work for. That individual told Law Enforcement that Shipes has never worked for him.
Shipes was arrested on 8-15-17 by the Graceville Police Department for Burglary, Grand Theft of a Motorcycle, and Dealing in Stolen Property. He was formally charged with Knowingly Providing False Registration Information as a Sex Offender on 9-23-17. This charge is a 3rd degree felony.
Shipes was already incarcerated on the other charges and is awaiting first appearance on the registration charge.
