Grand Ridge Women Arrested on Multiple Charges

On Saturday, October 28^th, 2017, at approximately 9:36pm, in the area of Hwy 69 and Carpenter Cemetery Rd. A patrol deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit conducted a probable cause traffic stop on a silver in color Saturn utility vehicle driven by Kayla Leanna Neel of Grand Ridge, FL.

            During the course of the traffic stop, the K9 Deputy observed several indicators of criminal activity within the vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was given by Ms. Neel. Several items consistent with the illicit drug trade were located within the vehicle. During this incident, located near the area in which Ms. Neel was standing a black zipper pouch was located directly behind her on the ground. The zipper pouch was found to be containing approximately 8.3g of a crystal like substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine. A black digital scale and multiple plastic jewelry bags were also located as well as several other items consistent the use, packaging and sale of methamphetamine.

            Upon the conclusion of this incident, Ms. Neel was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or distribute. Ms. Neel was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia/narcotic equipment. It was discovered that Ms. Neel was currently under state probation for an unrelated incident and subsequently charge with violation of probation.
