DOTHAN: This morning members of the Law enforcement, Fire (paid and unpaid) EMS and public officials came together for the official ground breaking ceremony on the new 23 acre state of the art training facility. This $22 million dollar facility is the only one like in this region.
The facility will provide an area for all law enforcement; fire departments and EMS can come together and train as one. Training has been a huge issue for volunteer’s fire and EMS departments due to nowhere to train. In the fire service the job is the same, the dangers are the same and now the volunteer’s can have a place to train.
Thanks to the partnership between the City, County, the Wiregrass Foundation and Private Industry this training facility is now becoming a reality. The new training facility will allow firefighters, law enforcement and EMS to train in live situations but in a controlled manner.
The facility will provide training in the following:
31000 sq foot Education and Training building
Drill tower (multi story) with bed prop, warehouse prop and rollover fire training
Class A burn building
Simulations house
Live-fire shoot house
Driving skills pad
Outdoor firing range
Tactical village
Urban Search and rescue K-9 training area
Railroad Car training area
Incline and flat roof training
Propane fire prop
Pump house and pit for pump testing
Confined space and trench rescue training
Below is the video of the training facility and how it is laid out for each area of training.
