DOTHAN:    The Dothan School Board is ok to begin accepting applications for Superientendent for the Dothan City Schools. But the interview employment part needs to be on hold until after the newly elected board takes place.

Needless to say Harry Wayne was furious when Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz announced he was seeking election as Chairman of Board for Dothan City Schools. As Mayor for eight years Mayor Schmitz has seen needs in the education community he wants to work on.

Under the current school board administration they have had problems with a steady hand on the wheel of leadership. The Superientendent position has been a revolving door.

From Mayor to Chairman of the School Board. A step downward. 

I think all would agree that Mike Schmitz could have easily gone into the third term as Mayor. But he saw another need and that was in the school system.

Harry Wayne and members of Dothan School Board - DO NOT interview or hire. Elections are in August.

Mr. Weeks did an outstanding job as Interim and really ought to apply. I do understand his reasoning. But Mr. Weeks we need someone who has Dothan "at heart" and not someone passing through.
