HOUSTON - HENRY COUNTY:   On June 5 the registered voters of Houston and Henry County will be asked to select a Circuit Judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit.

The position is being vacated by 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Mike Conaway. After age 70 a person is prohibited by law from seeking office as a Judge. The age factor has forced Judge Conaway into a position that he can not run again.

Seeking election on June 5 is John John Steensland and Valerie Judah. Both are practicing attorney's in Houston and Henry County. Both have extensive experience in all types of law, civil - criminal - family law.

Recently we sit down with both candidates and asked them some questions. This way you, the registered voters in both Houston and Henry County can make an informed decision of who will hold this important job.

The judgeship positions are for a 6 year term. In looking and listening to these two candidates, several factors to keep in mind. One of the most important factors, a Judge, with a stroke of a pen, can alter and change a persons life.

Sometimes a person who wears the robe get the illusion they are all knowing and powerful, treating people like dirt. They make a decision in a short period of time that will forever change and alter someone's life. And do so without the wisdom and judgement, much less the facts, they should.

And sometimes one wearing the robe, because the power has gone to their head, make some stupid ass decisions. Common sense is a vital part of being a Judge and in making the right decision.

So the registered voters of the 20th Judicial Circuit have important decisions to make when selecting who to vote for. It is a powerful job with an awesome responsibility.

In order to vote in this Judge election, you must vote Republican. There are no Democrats running. On June 5, the election for this office is over.
