WASHINGTON COUNTY: The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of suspicious activity in the town of Wausau over the past few weeks. Several reports specifically related to subjects who are walking in the area at night.
Last week, deputies heightened patrols in the area and, as a result, two individuals were taken into custody on unrelated felony drug charges.
On Sunday, just before 10 p.m., deputies responded to a welfare check request regarding two women walking near the Tom Thumb. As deputies made contact with the women, 34-year-old Ashley Collins initially had difficulty remembering her name. Deputies later discovered methamphetamine in her wallet.
Around 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, deputies made contact with 35-year-old Phillip Hardrick while walking down Jefferson Street. Once deputies learned Hardrick had an active warrant out of Washington County he was taken into custody. During a search of Hardrick, the deputy located a prescription medication, which is listed as a controlled substance, and a plastic bag containing methamphetamine residue.
Both Hardrick and Collins were booked into the Washington County Jail on felony possession charges.
