High Speed Chase in Wicksburg

HOUSTON COUNTY: Alabama State Troopers are in a high speed pursuit of a motorcycle runing speeds of 130 to 140 west bound on US 84 heading towards Dale County. Trooper advised the suspect has turned on to hwy 92 heading towards Clathatchee. The suspect is still traveling at high speeds.
The suspect wrecked out on Hwy 92 and Dale County Road 1. The suspect fled on foot but law enforcement now has the suspect in custody.

It was a brief pursuit that lasted about 15 minutes. The pursuit started when on N Bay Springs Road when the trooper attempted to stop the subject for speeding. The pursuit went west on US 84 with the motorcycle reaching speeds of 140 mph. The suspect turned on Al. 92 and fled toward Clayhatchee. The subject attempted to turn on Dale County Road 1 when he crashed his 2006 Kawasaki 636. Antonio Lavon Underwood, 30, of New Brockton was taken to a local hospital by State Troopers for treatment of road rash.
Upon his discharge from the hospital he will be transported to Dale County Jail where he will be charged with Reckless Endangerment, Attempting to Elude and several other traffic violations. When asked why he was trying to flee the trooper Mr. Underwood said he thought that he had an active warrant.
A search revealed that Mr. Underwood DID NOT have an active warrant.
