Holiday Weekend But....

HOUSTON COUNTY:.    Even though it is a holiday weekend two court officials have to work.


First Houston County District Court Clerk Kelli has had to come into the Houston a County Courthouse to work. Warrants of arrest have to be gotten within so many hours of arrest. So even though a holiday Kelli takes trip to courthouse so officers can get arrest warrants on those arrested.


Houston County District Court Judge Benjamin Lewis goes to the Houston county Jail to hold 72 hour hearings. A person arrested and not released on bond has to go before a Judge within 72 hours of arrest.


Dothan Municipal Court did not do that. A lawsuit was filed. It cost the City of Dothan $ 42,500.00 and now people sign their own bond.


Nothing happen to the staff at Dothan but perhaps a raise for


not doing their job.
