HOLMES COUNTY, Fla – Holmes County Sheriff’s Office was proud to serve as escort for the Holmes County leg of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run on Friday, March 30, 2018.
Local agencies joined others across the state in what is recognized as the largest fundraising and public awareness project for Special Olympics Florida. Holmes County’s portion of the run saw about 20 local participants on Friday who gathered at the starting line in front of Piggly Wiggly in Bonifay and crossed the finish line at the Holmes County Courthouse.
Each year, more than 5,000 officers carry the Flame of Hope torch on a 1,500-mile relay throughout all of Florida’s 67 counties.
The relay, which began last month, is the precursor to the Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games and will
end with officers brining the Flame of Hope into the Special Olympics Stadium.
