HOUSTON COUNTY:   09:52 AM.   There are some things the people need to know about Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield, District 2.

These are facts. Without someone expressing them there is no way for you to know them. So that is my purpose.

This past weekend the funeral for one of the lineman killed in WASHINGTON County Florida was held. Commissioner Sinquefield felt Houston County needed to be represented at the funeral services out of respect for the lineman and what they do. So Doug Sinquefield went to the funeral to represent Houston County to that family and in respect for all lineman and what they do.

In Ashford one night a man committed suicide in front of a Houston County Sheriff Deputy and a Ashford Policeman. When Commissioner Doug Sinquefield was told of it he went to where the deputy and Officer were. Doug wanted to check on their welfare and show that as a commissioner the law enforcement officers were supported. Commissioner Sinquefield wanted Sheriff Valenza to know he was supported.

A Houston County Correctional was assaulted by a inmate and carried to the hospital one night. Commissioner Sinquefield went to the emergency room to check on that correctional officer. The Commissioner wanted to make sure she was okay and for her to know she was supported by the Commissioners.

A house burned that was not in Commissioner Sinquefield’s District. The next date Commissioner Sinquefield tracked the family down to check on them and let them know the Houston County Commission cared for them.

About two years ago when four people were killed in the tornadoes in Rehobeth. Commissioner Doug Sinquefield was there helping, not watching but helping to remove the trees to recover the victims.

A semi lost wood spread on Highway 84.The volunteers and EMA were stacking the wood board by board off the roadway. Looked around and Commissioner Sinquefield was helping stack the wood.

Commissioner Sinquefield is very active with the National Peanut Festival. Serving food to the volunteers. Rolling up his sleeves and making things happen.

The recent hurricane, Commissioner Sinquefield was present for the Emergency Management briefings. Following the storms he was on every road in his district checking on the citizens and farmers. Commissioner Sinquefield has been making meetings, phone calls, meeting with EMA Director Chris Judah over the devestation. Working long and hard for whatever relief that can be provided to the citizens and farmers could be done. Commissioner Sinquefield has worked to look under every rock for help and remove any obstacles.

RSN is quick to point out when leaders do not do things. But I also want to be quick to point out when they are proactive in service to their citizens. And not just the ones who live in their district.

THANK YOU Commissioner Sinquefield for your hard work. I thought the public needed to know.
