HOUSTON COUNTY: Today is Election Day. You have two choices for Houston County Coroner:
1, Incumbent ROBERT Byrd who owns a funeral home.
2. Challenger EDDIE Ingram who in no way is associated with a funeral home.
The decision is yours. Robert is a great mortician and funeral director. No question about it.
But owning a funeral home and being Coroner is like the Chief Of Police owning the wrecker service.
If you do not think it is a conflict of interest then NEVER EVER complain about any political leader using his office for personal financial gain.
The courts need to overturn the conviction of Mike Hubbard. Because there is no such thing as using your office for personal gain.
No matter if Robert solicits or not the mere presence gives an advantage.
My greatest issue, of which I have personally witnessed; a traumatic death, the body laying on a backboard on the dirt. The deceased wife, children and family in the yard. When the Deputy Coroner was asked about putting the body in the “ HOUSTON COUNTY OWNED VAN” furnished to the Coroner, tyevreply of the Deputy Coroner was “ what funeral home are they using?”.
It did not matter what funeral home they are using. Out of respect for the man who just lost his life, out of respect for his wife and children, get the body off the dirt and on the stretcher in the county owned van.
Folks, a funeral director being Coroner is a direct conflict of interest. Four years being a funeral home owner and Coroner is about equivalent to almost $ 3 million dollars.
