HOUSTON COUNTY: Three contenders for Houston County Sheriff.
1. Incumbent Donald Valenza. Been with Houston County Sheriff Department for 39 years. Rose through the ranks. Done a great job as Sheriff. Will continue to do a great job as Sheriff.
2. Former Sheriff Andy Hughes. He left the Sheriff job to pursue a six figure job with former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley. Your retirement is based on your three highest of the last 5 years. Things did not work out.
Donald Valenza was totally loyal to Andy Hughes When Valenza served as Chief Deputy while Hughes was Sheriff. Hughes endorsed Donald Valenza for Sheriff. That loyalty was Only from a Valenza to Hughes. Because when Andy needed a job he sought to oust Valenza as Sheriff.
I like Andy. He did a good job. Sorry, but he could have been Sheriff as long as he wanted but Andy wanted the six figure salary over the people of Houston County.
I see no reason to change from Donald Valenza.
3. Challenger former Deputy Sheriff Randy Anderson. A great guy but not Sheriff material.
