Absentee voting for the May 31, 2018, Primary Election are currently available.  To vote by mail, the voter may obtain an application online at www.alabamavotes.gov or contact the Absentee Election Manager’s Office at 334-671-8700; once the application is completed and returned, a ballot will be mailed.  Applications may be returned in the mail to Absentee Election Manager, P.O. Drawer 6406, Dothan, Alabama 36302. 


To vote in person, the Absentee Election Manager’s Office is located in Room 130 of the Houston County Courthouse and is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.   Party preference must be notated on the application, and no cross-over voting is allowed in a Primary Runoff (in other words, must vote in the same party for both the Primary and Primary Runoff elections).  


Also, applications may only be accepted one per person; and no third-party delivery is allowed.


 


IMPORTANT DATES 


Thursday, May 31, 2018: This is the last day voters may apply for a regular absentee ballot for the August 15, 2017, Special Primary Election for U.S. Senator.  Applications must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office on this date.  No ballots can be mailed to voters after this date.  Only one application per envelope accepted; Party preference must be notated.


Monday, June 4, 2018:  This is the last business day before the election and is the last day a voter can return in person his or her regular absentee ballot. No one, not even a family member, can return another person’s ballot, except a medical emergency ballot. This is the last day to vote business emergency ballots.


Tuesday, June 5, 2018:  Mailed ballots must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office no later than noon this date.  Emergency medical ballots must be received by noon on this date in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office by the designee.
