MONTGOMERY- An Alabama Department of Transportation project on SR-123 from the intersection of SR-12 (US-84) to the junction of SR-134 in Newton will begin Wednesday, January 2, weather permitting.

As part of the project, crews will be making safety improvements including, widening, planing, resurfacing and striping in the area.

During construction, lane closures will not occur during peak travel hours.

ALDOT awarded the project to Wiregrass Construction, at a cost of $1,856,879.38 with 40 working days. The project is expected to be complete by April.

ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally and economically sound transportation network across Alabama.
