Inmate Charged with Open Count of Murder

On January 15th, 2018 at approximately 2:02 am, Officers with Marianna Police Department responded to Jackson County Correctional Facility in reference to a reported homicide.


Upon Officers arrival, it was reported to them by the correction’s staff that during a security check they discovered Frederick Patterson III had attacked his cellmate who died of his injuries sustained in the attack. Investigators determined it was an ambush style attack on the cellmate.


Marianna Police Department will not release the victim’s information until notification of death can be made to the victim’s next of kin.
