Investigation underway after body found in Covington County

COVINGTON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A body has been sent to Montgomery for autopsy after it was found on a Covington County dirt road. Covington County Sheriff Dennis Meeks said the sheriff's office received a call around 2:30 p.m. about a body being found.


According to Meeks, the unidentified man was shot and killed before his body was found on an unnamed dirt road. Meeks said the unnamed road veers off of Oakley Streak Road which is near Hayslette Bridge in northern Covington County.


The Covington County Sheriff's Office is working in conjunction with the Butler County Sheriff's Office.
