DOTHAN: Early this morning a Dothan Police Officer made a traffic stop on Kenneth Glasgow. The car belonged to AJ'S Car Lot on South Oates Street and had a dealer's license plate on it.
The license plate came back in the National Crime Information Center as Stolen. Dothan Police contacted the agency in Georgia that had entered the license plate as stolen and they confirmed the plate was stolen.
Dothan Police arrested Kenneth Glasgow on Receiving Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, a misdemeanor and booked him in the Dothan City Jail. The Dothan Municipal Court ( not the Police ) have a catch and release program on misdemeanor offenses and Glasgow was released on his own signature.
The 20th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Office filed a Motion To Revoke the bonds of Kenneth Glasgow. He is currently on bond for Capital Murder. The case has not made it's way through Grand Jury. The Motion To Revoke was filed at 12:52 PM.
After investigation into the true facts and circumstances, well...
Chamblee Police on or about May 17 filed a report where a Dothan Auto Dealer had three license plates stolen. They had been working auto thefts from a Dodge dealership where high end cars were stolen. A car was recovered in Dekalb County Georgia that had the stolen Alabama Dealer's plates on it.
So the case had been closed. The Alabama dealer had several dealer plates because he purchases vehicles at the auction.
Glasgow was legitimately on the vehicle and the dealer plate was an authorized active license plate.
At 2:44 PM today the 20th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Office filed a Motion To Withdraw The Motion To Revoke the bonds on Kenneth Glasgow.
When you place all of the pieces of the puzzle together it is not always as it first seems. And that was the case with the offense on Kenneth Glasgow.
BUT a lesson to the 20th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Office...it is JUST THE FACTS...JUST THE FACTS. Do not be so quick to make a move until the F A C T S are known.
The case of Receiving Stolen Property is a case in Dothan Municipal Court which is being dismissed.
