Ivey, Marshall Criticize Parole Board in Latest Letter

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - There are new details regarding the ongoing corrective measures with the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles.






WSFA 12 News first reported in October about the board considering and granting parole for violent offenders before they were eligible.






Following lengthy proposals and changes, the offices of Gov. Kay Ivey and Attorney General Steve Marshall are weighing in again on how the board is making those adjustments.






In their latest communication, Ivey and Marshall criticized the parole board for not following their direction in working with the Alabama State Personnel Board on analysis of officer caseloads, leadership and morale. Instead, the parole board issued proposals for outside consultants to bid on the job.
