WEBB…James Walton Buie, a resident of Webb, died Tuesday morning, June 27, 2017 at his home. He was 69.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 29, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Sam White officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends at the mortuary Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.


            Mr. Buie was born and reared in the Greenfront Community, near Webb, son of the late Virgil Ralph Buie and Catherine Williams Buie. He was a 1966 graduate of Houston County High School and attended Wallace College. Mr. Buie served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He retired as the owner and operator of SCI-2-Way / Seminole Communications in Dothan and was formerly a partner in Communication Specialists. Mr. Buie enjoyed spending many hours on his farm in Webb. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Buie, a niece, Laura Hope Linton, and a lifelong best friend, Wayne Duke.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Darryl Pitchford Buie, Webb; a daughter, Elizabeth Bray (Ryan), Birmingham, AL; a son, James Ryan Buie, Dothan; a sister, Joyce Herndon (Sam), Chattahoochee, FL; a brother, Virgil Buie (Jenny) Dothan; sister-in-law, Mary Buie, Ashford; an aunt, Frances Bowers, Panama City Beach, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Will and Jane Pitchford, Columbia, AL; and Peggy and “Wayne” Linton, Opp. AL; and a grandson, Sawyer Bray, Birmingham, AL.
