National Volunteer Week is observed in the United States from April 15-21, 2018. Established in 1974 by President Nixon and celebrated across the country, this week honors volunteers for their contributions to their communities and recognizes the impact of their time and energy throughout the year. Landmark Park benefits every year from the work of dedicated volunteers and the board, staff and visitors greatly appreciate the efforts put forth by this group of people.

Landmark Park will honor National Volunteer Week by kicking off the revamped volunteer program at the park on April 22 at 2 p.m. in the Interpretive Center Auditorium. This event will feature a presentation on what volunteers do for the park and give participants a chance to sign up to volunteer. If you have ever wanted to help Landmark Park—from office tasks to outdoor work—this is the perfect opportunity learn more.

Admission to this event is free. For more information about Landmark Park and to download the volunteer application, please visit www.landmarkparkdothan.com.

Landmark Park is a 135-acre natural science and history museum located on the outskirts of Dothan. Features of the park include nature trails, a planetarium, playground, picnic areas, an elevated boardwalk, a turn-of-the-century farmstead with sheep, chickens, cows and other farm animals and crops typical of an 1890s farm.  In addition, the park includes a drugstore with operating soda fountain, one-room school, general store, and historic church, all preserved from the surrounding area. The park is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. The park is located on U.S. Hwy 431 North, three miles north of Dothan’s Ross Clark Circle.  For more info, call 334-794-3452 or visit www.landmarkparkdothan.com.
