HOUSTON COUTNY: Today the Town of Kinsey received a $30,000.00 grant to help identify and locate potential problems with their sewer system and get them rectified. Today was the first major step of that process. Mayor Charles Douglas wanted to let the citizens know they are on the right track of fixing the problems and are moving forward to get that done.
Scott Trott with the CDG Engineers & Associates spoke about how the rain water getting into the sewer lines is causing problems and costing a lot of money.
A couple of years back the city of Dothan changed the way they billed these municipalities for their sewer waste. Instead of bill by how much water they used now they are billing for how much sewer is being taken in. The Town of Kinsey has some old sewer lines that were cracked or broken that was allowing the rain water runoff into the sewer system.
The Town of Kinsey is moving forward to fix the issues and get the sewer system up to date. This takes money and the Mayor and town Council are looking for more funding to pay for fixing the problem.
