Late Afternoon Woods Fire At Columbia

COLUMBIA: Late this afternoon Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched multiple UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE units to a controlled burn which had become out of control.
The fire location was Bill Yance Road off Highway 52.
A controlled burn of about 100 Acres. Winds speeds were predicted the burn would be okay. However predictions and reality did not match.
The fire jumped the road. It endangered a house.
The person doing the burn had a dozier cut a fire break. Fire engines from Columbia, Webb and Gordon responded. Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management responded as did Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Columbia Police.
Alabama Forestry also responded.
The area will be smoke filled probably for a couple of days so use caution in that area.
