STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES

------------------------------------------------------

QUESTION ?

When a suspected crime has been committed, do you call: (1) the District Attorney first, or (2) do you call the police?

You call the police first. When the officer arrives if that officer feels it is needed you call a criminal investigator.

With that in mind read the following AL.com article. Your Alabama Legislature called a lawyer to conduct the investigation into then Alabama Governor ROBERT Bentley. Those lawyers probably billed $ 300.00 an hour. And they had their investigators locate people and conduct an investigation.

Now the broke State of Alabama has to pay those lawyers $ 600,000.00.

When they could have hired private investigators. Those private investigators would have conducted the investigation, taken statements and put Reports together, saving the State probably $ 400,000.00 or more.

Taxpayers will pay a total of almost $600,000 in legal fees to two private law firms on opposite sides of the impeachment investigation of former Gov. Robert Bentley.

Last year, the House Judiciary Committee hired Jack Sharman of the Birmingham firm Lightfoot, Franklin & White to conduct the impeachment investigation. The Alabama Legislature plans to pay the firm a total of $457,889.

Sharman said he and his firm interviewed more than 20 witnesses and reviewed thousands of pages of documents before releasing his reporton April 7. It concluded that Bentley abused his power to try to hide evidence of an alleged affair with his former political adviser, Rebekah Mason.
