On Wednesday December 27, 2017 the Cottondale Police Department responded to a traffic crash that occurred in the City of Cottondale. During the course of the investigation it was determined that a white male driving a white in color Chevy suv fled the scene, and had been observed by the Cottondale unit. The Cottondale Officer notified the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office of the incident due to the driver reaching the city limits. The Cottondale Officer had been observing the vehicle’s direction of travel and providing updated information to responding deputies.
Upon arriving in the area a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed the described suspect vehicle traveling on Doulas road toward Hwy 231 at an excessive speed. The deputy observed the vehicle disregard a stop sign and drive his vehicle in the path of oncoming traffic on Hwy 231, and then travel north bound.
