ENTERPRISE: Several outstanding local films will be among the official selections for the 2019 Mountain Tales Film Festival to be held April 12th and ending with an awards ceremony on April the 13th at the Piney Woods Arts Festival. This premiere film festival, will be held at Enterprise State Community College.

Festival goers can look forward to viewing more than a dozen short films from the Wiregrass, alongside entries representing more than 5 countries as well as having a say in which of the finalist they would like to see win in each category through a voting mechanism on social media as well as on the day of the festival. INSERT QUOTE “Too often we see films that don’t say anything or tell us anything, we want to celebrate storytellers at this festival.’, says Festival Chair Paige McCay. “The chance to see so many perspectives and hear so many voices from all over the world, that is what we hope to bring to the Wiregrass..”

Along with the films screening at the festival we will have live music at three different stages featuring local jazz musician Chris Godbard, Nashville Best new pop star Miss Audrey, and many other local and new faces. We will have a stage dedicated to talk show ‘Deep Soul’ from Nashville which talks about musicians and issues in the soul genre. They will be bringing multiple artists and hosting some Q&A’s with us.

We will also be holding panels in our “Seat at the Table” series on acting, women in film and television, and working in the film industry with seasoned professionals active in the industry. The festival is featuring the workshops we offer all over the Wiregrass to students and adults alike with a few new ones in: cinematography, acting, drawing, running a youtube channel, and much more.

Local food vendors will be in attendance including Shane’s Rib Shack and Lolli’s Cupcakes, as well as official sponsors Clark Cinemas, Yancy Parker’s, Enterprise State Community College, and a growing number of others. The festival will begin at 2 P.M with the musicians, panels, and workshops; the films will begin screening as soon as the sun goes down on two screens on the outdoor quad of the campus. The awards will be at 2 the following day on the ESCC campus.
