On 12/16/2017 at approximately 7:32 pm, an officer with the Marianna Police Department was conducting a foot patrol of the Three Rivers Apartments Complex. While in front of J building, the officer observed a subject sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle who he recognized to be Michael Jermaine Lawrence. Lawrence was known to have an active trespass warning for the property. The officer then made contact with Lawrence and attempted to arrest him for the charge of trespassing.
It was at this time Lawrence became physically combative in an attempt to flee from the officer. Lawrence was given several verbal commands to stop resisting, but continued to do so. The officer then deployed his department issued Taser, and after a brief struggle, was able to place Lawrence under arrest. It should be noted that the officer received minor lacerations from Lawrence during the struggle.
Lawrence was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
