Man Charged with Burglary and Kidnapping

On 08/22/18 the Houston County Sheriff’s Office took a report in reference to Kidnapping 1^st degree and Burglary 1^st degree. Houston County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were notified and developed a suspect. A BOLO was immediately issued for the suspect and victim to all surrounding law enforcement agencies. On

08/22/18 Dothan Police Narcotics units observed the suspect and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle he was driving. The suspect Derrick Donta Russaw, a 33-year-old black male from Dothan, AL, was driving the vehicle at the time and was taken into custody.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office Investigators responded and took Derrick Donta Russaw into custody and he was arrested and charged with Kidnapping 1^st degree and Burglary 1^stdegree and was given a NO bond.  Additional charges may be pending in the near future.  The victim in the case is safe at this time.
