On August 20, 2017, at approximately 3:06 pm, a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division attempted a traffic stop near Kynesville Road and Topaz Road. The Sheriff’s Deputy was attempting to conduct a probable cause traffic stop. As the Deputy attempted to make contact with the driver of the truck, the driver accelerated in an attempt to elude the Deputy. The driver of the truck was later identified as Joshua Carr.
In his attempt to elude, Carr drove on dirt roads through residential areas in excess of 80 miles per hour. The Deputy observed Carr making movements inside the truck as if he were attempting throw items out of the truck window.
Other Deputies were able to assist in the pursuit. Carr continued to try and evade the Deputies for several miles, driving through yards, fences, and fields. The vehicle turned into a foot chase after Carr got his truck stuck trying to cut through a field. Carr ran into a wooded area where he was located by Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted. Inside the vehicle, illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia was located.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the assisting agencies, Florida Highway Patrol and Jackson County Fire and Rescue.
