On January 22, 2019 at approximately 2150 hours, a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol in the area of Highway 71 and Highway 90 when he observed a vehicle known to belong to Kimberly Boykin with her seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. A system check of Boykin’s information returned her to be on state probation with a drug offender curfew 1900 hours until 0700 hours. The Deputy made contact with Boykin in the parking lot where she was.

Upon initial contact with Boykin she was advised of the reason for the encounter. Boykin made excited utterances stating she was trying to deposit money into the bank before heading home for the evening. As Boykin exited the vehicle the Deputy observed her to be visibly nervous, shaking uncontrollably, and evasive trying to make a phone call. When Boykin was asked if she had anything on her person she voluntarily emptied her pockets holding a paper towel and cosmetic fake nails. Boykin attempted to quickly conceal the paper towel back on her person.  Upon obtaining the paper towel the Deputy felt a small shard. After further inspection the Deputy located a crystal like shard suspected to be methamphetamine and weighed approximately 0.22 grams.

The Deputy then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle in which Boykin had been in as the sole occupant. The Deputy located a zippered pouch within her purse containing three different screw top containers, two of which contained a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine residue. The third container contained another crystal shard suspected to be methamphetamine and weighed approximately 2.77 grams. Further searching revealed a glass smoking pipe and an additional smoking pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue. Boykin made utterances on her own claiming knowledge of the found items. A field test of the crystal like substances yielded a presumptive positive result for the presence of methamphetamine.

Based on the items located and Boykin being out past her drug offender curfew she was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on her charges.

Arrested:
Kimberly D. Boykin,  52 years of age, Resident of Marianna, Florida

Charges:
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Violation of State Probation
