Mark Saliba Makes Mayor Race Announcement On Facebook

DOTHAN:   Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz made his announcement this past Tuesday that he was not seeking a third term as Mayor of the City of Dothan.


On Friday Dothan businessman Mark Saliba makes his announcement on Facebook that he will be seeking election as Dothan Mayor.


Saliba's post read: " With prayerful consideration I, Mark Saliba, announce to run for Mayor of this great city. We will set up a " Mark For Mayor " Facebook page with a date, time and location for a more formal announcement. Thank you in advance for your support! Also, please share this announcement with your family and friends!!!  MS ".


Mark Saliba is a Dothan native. He and his brother Fred own and operate the family business, Alfred Saliba Homes and Alfred Saliba - Caldwell Banker Realty. Mark is the son of the late Alfred Salia who served as Dothan's Mayor for 8 years.


Mark is active in the community, past president of Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a very smart businessman, community minded, and has a vision of where he wants to lead Dothan as it's Chief Executive Officer.


Mark is the first candidate to announce intentions to seek election as Dothan's Mayor. 


This is the first election cycle that all Dothan Commissioners and Dothan Mayor run at the same time. In the past the elections have been Mayor and some commissioners, then two years later the other commissioners. That was changed several years ago and this is the first election cycle all will run.


We know Dothan Commissioner District 1 - Kevin Dorsey will seek re-election, District 3 - Albert Kirkland will seek re-election, District 4 - John Ferguson will seek re-election, District 5 - Beth Kenward will seek re-election and District 6 - David Crutchfield will seek re-election.


Some incumbents will make their announcements this week.
