Motor Vehicle Accident Leads to an Arrest

On 1/18/19 at 12:53 a.m., Officers of the Marianna Police Department responded to a traffic crash scene located near the intersection of Kelson Avenue and Caledonia Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a white in color Mitsubishi that struck a utility pole head on. Officers then located the driver of the vehicle, Chance Keith, who was behind the vehicle and bleeding heavily from his head. Jackson County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and transported Keith to Jackson Hospital due to his injuries.
While Officers were conducting their traffic crash investigation an officer observed two partially burnt marijuana cigarettes lying in plain view. Officers then conducted a search of Keith’s vehicle and located individually packaged THC oil dispensary cartridges, and 15 Xanax pills.
Due to Keith’s injuries, charges are pending. Chief Baggett urges the citizens of Marianna to report suspicious behavior and activities to the Marianna Police Department at 850-526-3125.
