AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Lee County officials identified the woman in the Auburn officer-involved shooting Thursday and asked for the public’s help locating her family. By Thursday afternoon, that mission had been accomplished.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris identified the woman as Erica Renee Miller, 36. She was last known to be a resident of Eufaula.
Harris said Miller’s immediate next of kin was found out of state due to news media and social media posts. He said he spoke with the family around 3:15 p.m. and notified them of their relative’s death.
“Out of respect for their privacy, I will not be releasing their names or location,” Harris said. “They were unaware of their daughter’s death.”
