NICK HOOD PASSED AWAY LAST EVENING

AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A MOTOR VEHICLE

THIS POST IS FROM HIS SISTER CAITLIN HOOD

Nick hood fought so hard for 39 days, and on Saturday June 30th, I lost my best friend at 1420, while I was holding him so tight. He was ripped from his friends and family in a tragic accident doing what he loved and thrived in, studying formation of rocks.

He was on top of the world, so close to his geology degree and then was going straight into his masters.

He would have been in Norway right now, a trip he planned when he got back from his field camp trip.

I can sit here and write all of the amazing things Nicholas Hood was made of because it's hard to even put into words. He is a precious gem that had so much to offer to this cruel world. He made it a beautiful place and put a smile on everyone he came across.

Life as I know it will never be the same, it has been flipped totally upside down. I have read, to love is to lose. What I once said a lot, I will never say again...because everything doesn't happen for a reason. What happened to nick and cole did not have to happen for any lesson to be learned, it was absolutely unnecessary. I will never be ok, but I have also learned in this short time...its ok that I'm not ok. I, as well as family and friends, will grieve for the rest of our lives. Without nick, nothing will be as beautiful as it used to be. I have asked nick to show me his presence every day in this very long life that I have to live without him, and so far he has done so. I pray people see nick in me, I pray I live somewhat close to his honor and respect he gave.

Nick, you are noble, you are a gentleman, you are so so strong, you are my guardian angel.

As everyone's traveling for the 4th please be careful and mindful of your choices.

It's such a shame that nick was taken from us by a negligent human.

Nick Hood would want everyone to live their lives to the fullest. To cherish day to day life, laugh at anything you want, smile just because, do small illegal things, tell witty jokes, collect small things, and just to do whatever the hell you want. I love you Bud, you are forever with me.
