The articles below outline the murder and identification of the murder suspect in Onslow County North Carolina. There are several articles of when the body was found following a welfare check, the finding of the victim's car, the identification of the suspect and information on the suspect, and that she was apprehended in Dothan Alabama.

At this time we do not know what brought Dothan Police attention to the suspect vehicle. But we do know that this incident started somewhere between 3300 block of South Oates, Wal-Mart, to Hodgesville Road. And then the chase was on.

The chase developed fast and rapid with officers from Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Department scrambling in positions to apprehend this person.

Without being involved, without listening and witnessing, it is often times difficult for the public to realize just how fast these things occur. A officers game plans to end a chase get changed in seconds because the suspects actions change.

It is a helpless feeling when the suspect does some action in the chase, it is impossible for the officer to ram the suspect vehicle to take them off the roadway, to get ahead of the suspect and in a position to alert traffic, to get into a position to shoot the suspect between the eyes to stop them, and you know this is not going to end well. That happens and decisions in the chase are made within 120 to 130 seconds and a lot has happened in those seconds and a lot of lasting decisions made.

Today's chase, the officers knew without a doubt this was a wanted felon for murder. The Dale County Sheriff helicopter had been scrambled to get into the air.

Because I know some of the voices, Dothan Police 911 Dispatcher Rachel did an outstanding job in managing the chase as dispatcher. The Patrol shift commander was Lt. Rachel David.

The Houston County Sheriff Department 911 dispatcher was doing an outstanding job of management of information and accurate swift information to the Houston County Sheriff Deputies.

But a chase here does not happen just because a officer wants to chase someone. Understand it is never the one under the blue lights making the decision to run, it is the one in front of the blue lights making that decision. And today it was a known armed and dangerous female wanted for murder.

So everyone - everyone - all agencies, officers, dispatchers and commanders did an outstanding job.
