HOUSTON COUNTY:    Folks it is GREAT to be a part of the volunteer network in Houston County Alabama.

This afternoon Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Sheriff Deputies, Pansey Volunteer Fire Department, Ashford Rescue and Alabama State Troopers to an overturned semi truck in the median of the road. Sheriff 911 also reported a 7 year old child was injured in the accident.

Also responding to the scene was Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Agency.

The 7 year old was riding in the sleeper of the semi. She was up and walking around on the scene and was not transported.

The semi was loaded with lumber which was scattered all over the west bound side of Highway 84.

Trooper McAllister called for ALDOT to respond for the scene clean up. Seeing the mess Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management requested Sheriff 911 page the members of Gordon Volunteer Fire and Lucy Volunteer Fire to respond, non emergency to assist.

Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield also responded. The commissioner, EMA Director Chris Judah, volunteer members of Pansey - Gordon - Lucy - Cowarts Volunteer Fire rolled up their sleeves and started loading lumber on the wrecker flat bed. When it was full the team started stacking all of the lumber not he flatbed semi that was scattered in stacks on the side of the road.

The team worked fast in order to get the lumber stacked where a fork lift could pick it up and get the roadways cleaned up before dark.

LADIES and GENTLEMAN - this is what the volunteer network in Houston County Volunteer Fire and Rescue is about. Without compensation, because of their love and dedication to the community, they each roll up their sleeves and "get-r-done".

And Doug Sinquefield was right there with the volunteer network sweating, loading and stacking the lumber.

It is GREAT to be a part of the Houston County Volunteer Network Team. THANKS to each and everyone that rolled up their sleeves and worked. Even ladies were carrying two and three pieces of lumber.

Fortunatley there were no significant injuries. Alabama State Troopers are in charge of the accident investigation.
