The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent drowning of a Mississippi teenager last night off Okaloosa Island. The 19-year old Sara Sebren from Pearl Mississippi was swimming with friends near the Seventh Beach Access off Santa Rosa Boulevard around 8 p.m. when they say she began struggling in the water.

The group was approximately 250 feet from shore. They were able to help her to the beach with the help of a flotation device. Firefighters called to the scene immediately began life-saving measures.

EMS transported the teen to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.
