Offical Update on the Kinston Shooting

KINSTON -- On Sunday, December 16, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) responded to a firearm assault in Kinston (Coffee County) at the request of Kinston Police Chief Alvah Carlson.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., the Kinston Police Department received reports of a firearm assault in the 700 block of Highway 52 North. When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Kaleb Giles, of Kinston, AL, suffering from what is believed to be multiple gunshot wounds. Giles died from his injuries at the scene.
Kinston Police immediately made contact with a person of interest who remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators. SBI Agents, along with investigators from the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and Kinston Police Department actively participated in this case. This investigation is ongoing, and no related threat to the public is believed to exist.
The completed investigation will be submitted to the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office for review, and no additional information will be released at this time.
