Walton County: An Opp man has been arrested in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. after escaping a Crenshaw County, Alabama health facility and stealing a vehicle.
Reese Lee Prevatt, 33, escaped the Crenshaw Community Hospital South Wing Facility Monday night. Following the escape, the Walton County, Florida Sheriff’s Office said he broke into a Luverne home where he stole a white Kia sedan, money, and other valuables.
The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a parked car at State Road 395 and U.S. Highway 98 in Santa Rosa Beach around 7:30 a.m. The car had reported front-end damage and deputies noticed a strong smell of alcohol lingering from the man, who did not have ID. He was later identified as Reese Prevatt.
Investigators found multiple cans of Four Loko inside the vehicle and the license plate came back as a stolen vehicle from Alabama.
Prevatt was arrested and charged with grand theft auto and possession of stolen property by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
In a released statement, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office referred to Prevatt as a "home invasion suspect". It was not clear what specific charges he will face when returned to Alabama.
