Ozark Couple Charged in Missing Child Alert

Panama City, FL - An Ozark couple was arrested on charges of Interfering with Child Custody after they were arrested in Florida.



Sharon Rodriguez and Brenden Govan were taken into custody Tuesday and the children, 6 and 15, found safe in Panama City. The relationship of the children wasn’t immediately released.


Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker described the suspects as neighbors to the children’s mother, Shantae Snuggs. “She allowed the couple to take the children but expected them back on Sunday. When they didn’t return as scheduled Official's were notified. We’re thankful they are safe,” Walker said.


Snuggs, according to Walker, tried unsuccessfully to reach Govan and Rodriguez via phone. An Emergency Missing Child Alert was issued Monday.


Walker said Rodriguez is expected to sign an extradition waiver and be returned to Ozark while Govan has warrants of arrest against him in Florida and will be held there until those are resolved.


“We’re thankful for all the help we received in bringing this situation to a close,” Walker said.
