The outdoor sirens in the 10-mile radius around Alabama Power’s Plant Farley will be activated as part of an annual test to ensure residents around the site are aware of the sounds and messages that may be heard in the unlikely event of an emergency at the site.
Residents may receive a CodeRed message with a notification about the siren test. To sign up for CodeRed, residents are asked to go to their local county emergency management website and register to receive alerts. Residents in Early County can register by visiting Earlycountysheriff.com.
WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at noon CT
WHY: This annual, planned test is part of the requirement to ensure the public is aware of the notification process in the event of an emergency declaration at Plant Farley.
WHO: Alabama: Alabama Power, Southern Nuclear, Alabama Emergency Management Agency, Dothan Houston County Emergency Management Agency and the Henry County Emergency Management Agency
