HOUSTON COUNTY: Angela Ward Richardson wrote the following on her FACEBOOK;
Patti Sue Mathis was a very special friend of mine and we spent a great deal of time together in the year before she died. She was a beautiful person and a wonderful friend. It broke my heart when she took her life and I think about her all the time.
Patti's father, Nathan Mathis served Houston County as Commission Chairman. Following his tenure in the 1970's as Chairman he served as Alabama State Representative in the Alabama Legislature.
Nathan Mathis gained national attention when Roy Moore was seeking election as United States Senator and spoke in Midland City. As a result of a interview on national television, Mathis was invited to appear on the ELLEN Show.
This video was one year after the appearance on the ELLEN Show which must have been recently.
The message from Nathan Mathis is important to hear. Apparently for different reasons from Patti Sue, a 16 year old young lady took her life in Enterprise this past week. But yet the suicides have the same message, not having acceptance from family or friends.
Suicide is real. Daily emergency service workers are dispatched to calls where suicide is attempted or unfortunately successful. But there are no problems that are worth taking your life over. A saying from a lady I respect " and this to shall pass". In time most problems are resolved.
Tonight at 7 PM at Landmark Park a service about suicide prevention.
To anyone struggling with life, please seek out help. There are always solutions.
