MONTGOMERY: Alabama State Representative Paul Lee and Alabama State Representative Donnie Chesteen set up a meeting today with Republican Alabama Governor Kay Ivey. The subject of the conversation was Hurricane Michael.
Representatives Lee and Chesteen invited Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah to join them.
Director Judah along with his local Emergency Management staff, about 30 of Alabama Emergency Management Brian Hastings staff and FEMA representatives have been on the ground conducting damage assessments.
That data has been presented to Governor Kay Ivey.
Representatives Lee and Chesteen along with Director Judah discussed with Governor Ivey the major damage which Houston, Geneva, Dale and Henry suffered. But they also carried the message of the disaster suffered by the farmers. Also discussed regulations which hurts farmers in moving forward.
Governor Ivey pledged her offices full support.
Representative Lee and Representative Chesteen along with Director Judah delivered the Wiregrass elected officials message. The local legislative delegation - Senators Harri Anne Smith and Billy Beasley, Representatives Paul Lee, Donnie Chesteen, Dexter Grimsley, and Steve Clouse have worked hard on the individual assessment but also the help to the farming community.
While all Houston County Commissioners have worked hard, no one has worked harder then Commissioner Doug Sinquefield. He has been nose to the grind stone making sure all that can be done is being done.
Now up to Governor Ivey, FEMA and President Trump.
